Redtigerdesigns self-published patterns are now available on multiple sales platforms. All patterns remain available through both Ravelry and LoveCrafts and have been added to my new Payhip shop. A selection of patterns are now listed in an Etsy shop which I've recently opened on a trial basis. Several patterns, with more coming soon, are even available preformatted for KnitCompanion through Create2Thrive.
My hope is that diversification of sales platforms will make my patterns easily accessible to as many knitters as possible. Introducing Olericulture Fingerless Gloves! This pattern has now been published and is available in my Payhip, Ravelry and LoveCrafts shops. These gloves feature lace and twisted stitches that interact to create lots of leafy goodness! They were a challenge to design but are rewarding to knit.
Valentine Sale 2020! All Redtigerdesigns patterns in my Ravelry shop are available at a 25% discount using coupon code VAL2020 from today through February 14, 2020. The pattern featured in the graphic below is Razzle Dazzle Socks.
Introducing the pattern for Harvest Wishes Socks! These casual yet delicate socks feature plump cable panels interlaced and interspersed with columns of twisted stitches. The stitch patterns appear complex but are actually easy and fun to knit. These socks are worked so that the cables and twists turn in opposite directions on the left and right socks.
Dancing Butterfly Socks was released as part of the May 2019 Knitcrate Sock subscription box! It was great fun designing these playful sock for the vivid shades of Vidalana Delight Sport yarn.
These cheerful ankle-length socks feature flirty butterflies dancing among garter ridges. Slipped stitches are used to place loose strands on the front of the knitting to be later caught up to form each adorable butterfly. The self published version of this pattern provides a choice of three butterfly charts, each utilizing a different surface technique to create the butterflies. “Butterfly Wings” uses slipped stitches to place loose strands on the front of the fabric which are later caught in a knit stitch to create wings. “Butterfly Fans” uses elongated stitches to draw loops over the surface of the fabric to be finished with purled edging. “Butterfly Bows” uses wrapped and dropped stitches to create long floats which are later manipulated into tied bows. Tumblers Ridge Scarf requires just a single skein of laceweight or light fingering yarn. The lace patterns are easy to follow and thus provide relaxing knitting while enjoying a special yarn. Blocking is required to fully reveal the lacy patterns.
In order to achieve symmetry in the lace patterns, this scarf is worked in two pieces from the ends toward the centre. The two pieces are then grafted together using kitchener stitch. Let it snow! Hoarfrost Ornaments feature colorwork snowflake motifs over a stockinette background. Recognizing that no two snowflakes are alike, the pattern provides a selection of six motifs creating a set of similar but unique ornaments. Make one, make two, make an entire snowstorm!
Each ornament requires a polystyrene or styrofoam ball and small amounts of fingering weight yarn in the main and contrasting colors. They work up quickly and are perfect for using up leftover sock yarn! These ornaments are cleverly constructed without the necessity of awkward knitting around styrofoam balls. The ornaments are made in two sections which are later placed over a ball and grafted together using kitchener stitch. This requires a bit of patience but is much easier and enjoyable than trying to knit around a solid ball. The pattern for Road to Riches Scarf has just been published! This little accessory requires just one skein of laceweight or light fingering yarn and is perfect for a special hank of luxury yarn. The pattern is available both individually and in a discounted bundle on Ravelry with Midas Touch Scarf and Hidden Gem Scarf. Any of these scarves would make treasured gifts.
During her first year of university, my niece made a special request for a warm hat to wear on her daily hikes across a damp and windy campus. More specifically, she wanted a hat with a fluffy pompom. Off Campus Hat was the result!
This cozy hat features a casual cable panel framed by cable edging and stockinette. The hat is sized to fully cover the ears for warmth on chilly days. The hat is finished with an optional removable fur or faux fur pompom. This pattern is suitable for most aran or heavy worsted weight yarns that can be worked at a gauge of 16 stitches/22 rounds to 4 inches. This hat is particularly attractive in handspun or slightly variegated or tweedy yarns. The sample was worked in handspun yarn from a local artisan. The colorwork in these mittens needed blocking to even out the stitches so I decided to make my own custom mitten blockers. It worked perfectly and needed only the sacrifice of an inexpensive plastic or vinyl placemat. I've created a tutorial that gives step-by-step instructions for making these mitten blockers. They're so quick and easy that you could make a set to fit everyone on your gift list.
These intricate socks are worked from the cuff down and showcase a variety of textural stitches. The center panel features both cables and lace and is framed by diagonally travelling cables and ribbing. The pattern includes written instructions and charted stitch patterns. The left and right socks are similar but not identical.
This pattern was originally designed for the Ravelry Solid Socks group as its September/October 2017 MKAL. The mystery clues have since been consolidated into a complete pattern including sample photos. These mid-length fingerless mitts feature a braid and cable panel over the top of the hand with comfortable stockinette stitch for the palm and thumb. The left and right mitts are similar but not identical.

The pattern for Ice Blink Socks was originally designed for and published by Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts to showcase their gorgeous sockweight yarn. The exclusivity period for the design has now expired, so I have self-published the pattern and made it available in my Ravelry store and on Loveknitting, Patternfish and Craftsy.
Just in time for gift knitting... a new scarf pattern! Hidden Gem Scarf is a luxurious little scarf requiring just a single skein of laceweight yarn. The sample is worked in qiviut, yarn spun from muskox fibre, which is incredibly light yet delivers exceptional warmth and softness.
I've just released the pattern for Pebbled Pathways Fingerless Mitts. These fingerless mitts feature a lovely knotted cable pattern interacting with basic ribbing. The resulting fabric is close-fitting yet comfortable. The stretchy fabric will accommodate a variety of hand sizes although fit can be further adjusted by changing needle size.
Introducing a new hat pattern... Backwoods Hat! This casual unisex hat features staggered layers of ribbing intended to provide extra warmth over the top of the ears. The ribbed borders are worked separately and then joined together before working the body of the hat in stockinette.
This hat is intended to be worn with negative ease and pulled down so that the double layer of ribbing covers the top of the ears. My model claims that he might actually wear this hat! I'm hoping that the matching one that I made for myself in burgundy and beige will fit under my snowmobile helmet. The pattern for Forest Canopy Socks is now available! These casual yet feminine socks feature an unusual lace pattern starting below the cuff and transitioning diagonally into ribbing around the ankle. The ribbing continues over the instep to give added comfort.
These socks are worked from the cuff down. The pattern provides options for varying leg and foot lengths. I’m excited to announce that the pattern for Ice Blink Socks was published today by Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts!
