Handknit socks are a luxury to which I became accustomed at an early age due to the prolific knitting and generosity of my grandmother. She worked without a pattern, making primarily ribbed socks from 3-ply yarn, but developed individual formulas for socks customized to the foot size of each recipient.
Given the wide variety of sock yarns now available, sock knitting has become an addiction for me. In order to combat its potential monotony, I began to design my own patterns extending beyond the traditional stockinette and ribbing. Redtigerdesigns now offers many patterns for handknit socks featuring combinations of cables, lace and specialty stitches. Each pattern has its own page here on my site... just click on the photo and go to the pattern page to reveal more details!
